A Formula One race or Grand Prix takes place over three days (usually Friday to Sunday), with a series of practice and qualifying sessions prior to a race on Sunday. Current regulations provide for two free 90 minute practice sessions on Friday, a practice session and a qualifying session on Saturday, and the actual Grand Prix race on Sunday.  This experience includes access to the US Grand Prix race held annually at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas and other Grand Prix races held in various international locations and specifically excludes the Miami Grand Prix, the Las Vegas Grand Prix and the Monaco Grand Prix.

Qualifying takes place on Saturday afternoon in a three-stage "knockout" period system. The first qualifying period is twenty minutes long, and includes all twenty-four cars on the circuit. At the end of twenty minutes, the seven slowest drivers are eliminated and put in positions eighteen to twenty-four on the grid. After a short break, the second period begins with the remaining seventeen cars. At the end of the fifteen-minute period, the seven slowest drivers are once again eliminated, filling grid positions eleven to seventeen. Finally, the third qualifying period features the ten fastest drivers from the second period. The drivers have ten minutes to set a qualifying time, which will determine the race’s top ten start positions. The race itself is held on Sunday afternoon and cannot exceed two hours in length; if the race has not finished by then the race will be ended at the end of that lap.
